@ZPalmsyou should make a quick run down 95 into GA or FL.  I saw them at Walmart when I was in Orlando a couple years ago.  I imagine it's still the same.  They're occasionally available at Walmart up here, and every summer at Lowes and Home Depot up here.

If I ever start driving It's something that I'll have to do but as of now I'm stuck to seed grown or if they somehow show up at my lowes near me 😭

Nothings more satisfying than seeing 90% of the queens sold at the big boxes, then you know the population is being replenished, Im seeing so many new plantings everywhere

I have planted two queens within a year.  One in a ground that surivived our cold winter.  Growing strong.

If they ever show up ever 😂

Crazily enough, they had singles and triples last year at my local Lowes here in the North Carolina mountains, never would have expected it and looking back, I should have snagged one. $20 for a single. $40 for a triple. Hindsight is 20/20.

It’s crazy we don’t ever see them here, the only time my Lowe’s had them is when they were already dying and were shoved on the dying plant rack and they were all triples 😭 and I bought one and it didn’t make it

You may have to try a location thats a little further away. Me personally, ive NEVER seen a single roebelenii at any Lowes around here. The large ones come in clumps of 3 usually, the smaller ones come in clumps of 4-8. I managed to snag a double which was a lucky find in of itself. Walmart and Home Depot also have the outrageously large clumps. Some of them have more than 8 palms in a pot.

Yeah. I'd expect Lowes to have them there over somewhere like the N.C. mountains. I actually picked one up today, they had just unloaded them off the truck for the season. Picked up a double-headed one. The other triple and quadruple-headed ones looked somewhat rough. I'll send pics of it tomorrow, I've been up for 15 hours and it's starting to get to me. 😫

But, I do hope you are able to find a nice one though. I'm sure you'll stumble across one eventually!

I counted 10 palms in one pot today at Lowes. It's insane. But, I too was also able to snag a double.

I don't see anything that resembles a palm at any of the big stores in 2023 (yet)

All I have seen so far where I live in central KY are Queens, Christmas (Adonia), Foxtail, Majesty, Bottle, Areca (Dypsis lutencens), Cat Palm (Chamaedorea cataractarum), Pygmy Dates and Sago's.

Wish they had something that I can plant here and not go hardcore protection on. I used to see Pindo's at Home Depot a few years ago but didn't buy back then.

Got this 7 foot tall Queen yesterday at Lowe’s. They had a bunch of slightly larger ones for $58, but this one was less than half the price at $26, no brainer. First time seeing a strap leaf taller than me. They also had Majesty’s (of course), Foxtails, and Adonidias. First time seeing Queens though. I have a Foxtail from here I got last year and I got a Washy (RIP) the year before, I actually came looking for those and left with this Queen.

Nothing here yet, it will be another 1-2 weeks before the palms and large tropicals show up.  Only indoor palms.   All they have right now are the succulents from California which we get a huge selection of.  Too bad 99% aren't hardy here.

I couldn’t resist   If I keep it dry in winter it should survive.

Amazing I would assume people use them as indoor plants or grow in pots in Chicago because there's no way you  can protect those Queens and Foxtails over there.

Clackamas Lowes got some Trachys in. Small are $35, medium are $80 and they had some big ones for $200. The tallest was 8 foot overall height and a perfect specimen. Beautiful palm but the size of the pot was intimidating.

The trachy didnt catch my eye in this photo, while they are nice palms, that Japanese maple looks amazing! I can only imagine that the price tag is outrageous though. We never get them that big here, only smaller sizes which can be close to $60. I forgot how much i paid for mine but i found it cheap and immediately grabbed it. Forgot where and how much but it was a good deal. Same with my Little Gem Magnolia.

I never realized how much these could cost.  I have one about 10'x10' and had thought about cutting it till I went to the nursery and saw a big boxed one much smaller for over 2k

Japanese maples are like weeds here literally, I’m constantly pulling seedlings from my yard. You may see them as nice but they are probably the number one planted tree in Portland. Overused is an understatement, not a fan of them personally. I removed the one I inherited with the house. At that size for a basic emperor variety you’re looking at $60-$90.

Weeds here as well, they were even planted by the city in the neighborhoods, about like 20 large trees, the seedings get every where but the lawnmower gets em.

Just saw today. I'm not an expert on identifying.

Cat Palm?

Definitely didn't look like the typical Majesty Palms.

It's about 7' tall.

I need another palm like I need a hole in my head - so I passed.

Any ideas?

Don't have any pictures yet, but at the home depots here they only sell phoenix robelenii, majesty palms, sago's, as well as chirstmas palms in general landscaping on rare occasions. Once I saw a bismarkia, and this year I saw half a dozen chinese fan palms. Last year I saw a rare sight of a sabal minor at a garden center about 7 gallons for 150, so sad i never took pictures or bout it.

Our local Home Depot, Costco etc are not selling any palms this year. I'm not sure what the issues are, but it may be availability at a price point they can sell. My step daughter that owns a fairly large nursery, told me her wholesale prices are getting ridiculous.

I’m pretty impressed by the selection, at least at my local big box stores. Last year I saw basically nothing, which I assumed was shipping issues. This year I’ve seen Bottles, Spindles, Foxtails, Queens, Majesty’s, Adonidias, Bismarckias, Pindos, Euro Fans, Windmills, Pygmy Dates, and Cat palms. I was hoping to see some King Palms, but still holding out hope for June. I’m on the East Coast in VA btw :)
