Our water temp is 66-69F based on Del Mar surf report.

Which is why I prefer hiking in the local mountains, and never took up surfing.

It's been warmer than average near me all winter. It's just starting to get closer to average now at the end of winter, but the ocean further out has just warmed up a lot. It's going to make spring /summer/autumn especially interesting because in about a month it will all warm up again, but it will have a 1 or 2C head start, which in weather terms is a whole lot. It's approx 20C 68F at the moment.

Best regards

Not sure if the water temp drop around here is due to Gustav sucking the energy out of the Gulf or not, but when I checked the water temp 2 days ago, it was 91F. This morning it looks to have plummeted to 82F.

After the ocean temp here being higher than average for all of last year, and especially through winter, in late Sept, early Oct it began to cool rapidly and was lower than average. In the past couple of weeks though, the entire eastern Indian Ocean has rapidly warmed to be warmer than average now by about 2C. The ocean temp off the coast here is 21-22C. I don't know what will happen if the rapid warming trend continues in summer and the cyclone season. It could be an interesting wet and humid summer I'd think.

Best regards

Tyrone

water temperature east pacific and sea of cortez, baja california méxico and california usa. normal for november.

you can see good in the images how the warm current goes north by the coast of baja california to area of los angeles. north of los angeles stops the current and the oceans always much more cold. los angeles is the most far north limit for many warm water ocean fish. these are normal circulations.

Not sure what the exact temp was, but I went swimming in the Gulf last weekend. The water was cool but not bone shivering cold....maybe ~70F? However, Im not sure Id try it today as this nasty front is coming through.......

The nearest large body of water to me has a current sea surface temperature of 9°C/48°F, which I guess is not as bad as when I went diving in March 2004 and it was 3°C/37°F. That was a little nippy.
