After all that palms ( most notably the extra tropical ones ) have been though this year, you would think they might get a break, but no the abuse doesn’t stop ! The hotel that homes  two of the tallest royals in Texas had a trimming job done on there palms (even though it was completely unnecessary) the one Royal on the right looks especially bad.

I believe more likely than not they will bounce back (again) however it is December so it’s more risky.

We USED to have a royal palm at the Arizona state capital with about 20 feet of grey trunk. It was there over 20 years without any problems, but then new inexperienced landscapers started trimming it like the tree on the right in your pic, and they killed it in about 3 years. EVERYTHING at our capital is WAY over trimmed.

So frustrating, there are a bunch of palms all over town here that fought their way back from the freeze only to butchered back to only a few fronds. I don’t understand, you don’t even have to be an expert to conclude that these things aren’t invincible and can’t take unlimited abuse, besides the trimming looks terrible anyway.

Corpus Christi, TX, near salt water, zone 9b/10a! Except when it isn't and everything gets nuked.

Is that what happened to that Royal? I used to go look it and even posted a picture of it here on PT once. I noticed it seems absent from more recent street views. Also absent is that big one I used to see on 43rd just south of Olive.

That's probably an old photo from mid summer. This photo was taken in early December; the "overtrimmed" leaves match the lower leaves in this photo (credit to richtrav).

That sucks. Its even more annoying when you consider that they used YOUR money to do it.
