Nico94
Hello. I visited a beautiful garden on the French Riviera in Menton. This is the Villa Maria Serena. I photographed a Brahea and would like to know if if it is the variety decumbens or calcarea?

MattyB
Not decumbens. I doubt calcarea. Looks like armata. 1 Matt Bradford "Manambe Lavaka" Spring Valley, CA (8.5 miles inland from San Diego Bay) 10B on the hill (635 ft. elevation) 9B in the canyon (520 ft. elevation)
tim_brissy_13
Are the petioles armed? I can’t see any teeth even when zooming in although it might just be the photo resolution which makes it difficult to see. If they’re not armed, it probably has to be B. ‘super silver’. 1 1 Tim Brisbane Patterson Lakes, bayside Melbourne, Australia Rarely Frost 2005 Minimum: 2.6C, Maximum: 44C 2005 Average: 17.2C, warmest on record. Fusca
I think Tim has a good point but agree with Matty. No petiole teeth on B. calcarea but only the leaf undersides are white. B. super silver meets both criteria but I think they they are still green at that age/size. B. armata petiole teeth are barely visible at that size.
