Water your minors… Then do it again!

I think most already know this on here… But I just want to confirm that my minors LOVE water. We have had some consistent heat (90+) in Ohio the last week so I watered my palms every morning, then we had tons of rain yesterday and today and this frond has 100% opened more in the last week because of it.

Proof Sabals love sun, heat and summer rain so they can bulk up for winter.

Definitely! They all are visibly growing and more colorful than ever right now.

Yes, some of the best winter protection is watering during the summer!

I'm wondering if I can speed up my birminghams with more water. I also have three trachy nova's planted in a cluster. I marked their spears with a sharpie to track their growth. One is doing great and I can't even see the mark anymore because the spear has fully opened into a frond. A second isn't too far behind. But the third isn't even close. It's still growing but the sharpie mark has moved maybe 6 inches. Not sure why. Maybe it needs more water?

I have noticed this as well and wonder if I can do the same thing with our sabals.  I do go out there and water them as much as I can.  Great to see that I'm not the only one!

Subscribe to my YouTube here  to follow along my Sabal obsession....  Quite possibly one of the biggest Sabal plantings in the US.
