Are these regular Sabal palmetto?

There's a good chance that they are palmettos but could also be the more commonly planted Sabal mexicana in this area.  @NBTX11 is probably familiar with this planting and can provide a better idea of the ID.

If they are the ones by Schlitterbahn, I believe those are Mexicana. I will try to go by and take a look at them. They were getting huge last time I saw them.

They look awfully burly to be palmettos but I've been wrong before

Sabal Mexicana if they are medium crispy after 2021. Sabal Palmetto would look very green, with Burt tips to fronds.

otherwise look at those trunks. Those are Texan!

The old boots are arranged pretty tightly on the trunk, isn't that more common in Mexicana

Here are the New Braunfels Schlitterbahn Sabal Mexicana’s as of today. I just shot these pictures. Looks like there are 18 of them. Look healthy to me. They probably trimmed off the brown fronds after the freeze.

If these things really were planted in 2011, then I need to reconsider my opinion on Sabal growth rates. That’s some impressive growth right there.

They take a while to begin trunking, but once they start they grow fast. Mine goes up about a foot per year.

I want to say they went as far back as 2008 on Google maps so they might have been planted around then. I just remember when I moved to New Braunfels in 2011 that they barely had any trunk and now they are big boys.

They actually removed every other one.  There were more at one point, but they were too close together, so they removed every other one, or at least some of them.
