Help my Kentia looks sick

Martunya

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have bought about two months ago a big Kentia palm about 1m 70cm. I bought bigger as I heard that it’s a slow growing plant. Well I think I have many palms together in one pot. I have noticed brown spots on some leaves and I am terrified that something is wrong. Also little leaves at the bottom are getting brown and drying off - you can see it in my last photo.
Regarding care: it’s indoor in a good light, not direct but very light spot. I water it once a week or less - I stick my finger to check if it’s dry. I gave it a bit of palm fertiliser when I got it.  Please help! Thank you

Hi @Martunya, I would not worry. You are correct, the Kentia is a solitary palm and yours looks to have about 4 or 5 in it.

Also that dead brown fibrous stuff on the new shoot looks normal to me.

And that other brown mark looks like it was brushed with a chemical causing a chemical burn.

The other little leaves dying on the bottom are probably seeds that have been outcompeted.

I think that it is looking pretty good.  And welcome to the forum.

Cheers Steve

It is not dead, it is just senescence.
