Ceroxylon spp are almost all cloud forest palms native to mountainous areas of South America. They evolved in cool, chilly climates and die in hot humid summers we have on the East Coast. I believe they can survive in parts of coastal California and San Francisco.

I heard someone grew them in florida that was on houzz i think
