kinzyjr
Not a major storm thankfully. Hope nothing bad or unexpected happens in its direct path, but I sure appreciate the rain. 1 1 Lakeland, FL USDA Zone (2012): 9b | Sunset Zone: 26 | Record Low: 20F/-6.67C (1985, 1962) | Record Low USDA Zone: 9a | 30-Year Avg. PalmatierMeg
Rainfall was over by noon here. We got 2" of desperately needed moisture. Haven't had any rain since Dorian left less than 2" in early Sep. Hot and dry for weeks is no way to segue into winter dry season. 2 Meg Palms of Victory I shall wear Cape Coral (It's Just Paradise) Florida Zone 10A on the Isabelle Canal Elevation: 15 feetI'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade. RJ
Raining here. Supposed to get heavier tonight with some wind, ( Sub 40 mph gusts) We need the rain as well, so welcome so far as it hasn't been too heavy

The7thLegend
Nestor was a big nothingburger in north Florida where the drought has gotten bad. Still thankful for the little bit I got.

Was surprised to hear about the tornado in Lakeland / other possible tornadoes in / around the Tampa Bay region, ( id likely have been out chasing them, lol ) and the storm surge flooding / washed out roads ( Alligator Point area aparently ) over parts of the Big Bend. Glad it wasn't any stronger, and that it brought needed rain for most.

I saw Reed Timmer talking about it on Facebook as the tornado was going down. If it wasn't for what I'd discover the heat would do to me here, and having one vehicle atm, I'd have been out chasing storms between here and the AZ/ NM US/ Mex border south of Tucson the last couple summers.. In Kansas, and when living in Largo/ Clearwater, didn't matter, I could be out at almost any time of day ( or night ) Even dealing with a 102 temp, while fighting off the Flu ..wasn't always enough to keep me home, lol.. Having followed Reed since he first started chasing sometime ago, when I was still in Kansas, have seen him pursue pretty much everything. Wish I could have been in town this past Spring when he caught the Tornado that passed through the southern end of Lawrence ( KS) ..where I lived for a few years. Know exactly where he captured his footage, and where the homes were/ are that were hit. Section of the Freeway he filmed at was just being completed when I left the state in 2004.

That was also the closest I've come to being in the direct path of an observed tornado. Wasn't big and had lifted as it passed just south of where I'd ended up that day, overall circulation itself passed overhead though.. May have been soaked as I drove home, but was probably the best chase I was able to pursue. Despite what many people assume, conditions like that, or to the degree that bring bigger tornadic outbreaks are rarer vrs. something that happens several times a year.. More times than not, you have to be in the right spot at the right time. Very rare that conditions are perfect enough to produce a wide ranging, state wide outbreak. Many times we'd end up with a strong squall line, while the tornadic storms stayed out west, or down toward Wichita.
bubba
Real point about Nestor is verification of Herbert’s Box 2, end of Cape Verde’s (ballistic bombers) in Florida although the Carribean is not immune (see Barbados and others in 1780) together with the commencement of Sidewinder Season in the US (West to East). Still plenty of time left in Hurricane Season and damage can be substantial (see Wilma) but we in South Florida have missed a bullet (see 1926, 1928, 1947, 1949, Donna 1960). 1 What you look for is what is looking
