yes.. this is in the basement...unfortunately

black and white poly stapled to the ceiling

plan on making a 4 season greenhouse in the future

some of those containers are 30 gal

chopped the bananas down so the would fit

last year they were hitting the ceiling within a month or two

it is a 13 foot by 17 foot approx space with 2 1000w hps

some 4 foot t12 shop lights and some 4 foot t5s

cold air humidifier, 250w honeywell electric heater, fans....

i am just a bit north east of southern ontario palms and tropicals..(hey dude!)

Essentially you have yourself an indoor Greenhouse.    Nice work!   Does it eat a lot of electricity or does the basement stay warm enough?  The fans are essential for air movement otherwise it increases the risk of fungal growth.  How do you get 30 gal container down into the basement?   This is dedication to your craft!

i will put it this way..... it is a lot cheaper to buy bananas at the grocery store

too dry is usually my problem... i do like the area outside of where the plants are to be dry because the walls and floor are cold

there is foam on the floor where the plants are

i use a dolly... and i ease up on watering

i am sore today though

Nice. A lot of work. I have similar battles, but luckily none of them currently palms.

The only tropicals that I have so far brought inside  (among palms), are coconuts, Hyophorbe,  and Adonidia (Christmas palm).

Among non-palms, mango, papaya and bananas are inside.  Have a LOT of work to do in November (most of the tropicals are still out).

might need to trim the banana out of the way

 

it is interesting to see the leaf count on the petiole go up with each new frond!
