Best sun exposure for Sabal minor zone 7a?

What is the best sun exposure for sabal minor in zone 7a.  It currently gets sun from 10 am to 1:30 and 3:30 till 6.   The is a limb from a nearby oak that casts a shadow from 1:30 till 3:30 in the summer months.  Is it worth having that limb cut down to get more sun on the sabal? or is shade mid afternoon shade better?  (or doesn't it really matter?)  Thanks

The farther North you are, the more sun Sabal minor need to grow quickly (well... as quickly as a Sabal can grow). But if you would like the leaves to be a little longer, I would leave the branch on. I have all my Sabal minor in part shade areas here. I am sure you get about the same amount of heat as we do in the summer, maybe just a bit less. They like those dog days of summer!

Doesn't matter that much you are fine.  I have one in full shade for 3 years and more in full sun they are all doing well but the shade one is super tall looking for sun.

A location with more full sun in the afternoon to early evening is best for your zone.  I've seen too many Sabals look poorly for many months from too much shade and too long a time below freezing.

Sabals love heat/sun.  However, they grow fine in light shade stretching for the sun.  Good luck with it.

I think it’ll be fine, however in full sun Sabals can really move. My Sabal Louisiana is growing faster than some of my Trachycarpus palms and it’s not even summer yet.
