Frond discoloring

Hi everyone,

Sorry for all of the questions lately.  I am pretty new to planting and not potting.  I planted a sabal minor and needle at about the same time a month ago.  They have both seen temperatures in the mid 20s a few times rebounding into the 60s with plenty of rain.  On the sabal one of the fronds turned completely brown.  This was planted bare root which I know can be troublesome.  The needle was planted as a 30gal and has looked fine until recently the tips are turning yellow.   Is this due to too little/ too much rain? Cold temps? Transplant shock? Or am I over thinking it?  Thanks for the responses!

I wouldn't worry. If the emerging spear starts to suffer, then you got real problems.

I agree no worries.  transplant shock on the needle.  Cut the sabal frond off if it's completely brown.

I've bought a couple of bare-rooted small Sabal Mauritiiformis, and they re-rooted pretty quickly.  I kept them in significant shade (maybe >60%) for about 3 months in 3G pots.  Some of the bare-rooted palms I've bought have random fronds die, I chalk it up to physical damage while being bare-rooted or in shipping, or by me when I re-pot them.  If it's just the oldest frond dying then the palm is likely "using up" the old fronds for nutrition while growing new roots.
