Low of 34 this AM. Early taste of winter weather.

Mostly 60's/40's next couple weeks with low 70's the next few days. Chance of rain Friday-Sat keeps changing but hoping for .25" or so for the cactus/agave. Irrigating the shrubs/trees/palms in winter mode - about once a week or less depending on rainfall.

I think we hit 4-39 or 40F a couple nights ago bu eh, didn't bother anything. Aside from that, can't really ask for better weather this time of year.

Watering container stuff roughly every two weeks / yards as well, except where i have seed down / is sprouting. atm.

This last period has been turbulent with lots of wind rain and sunshine again. But it's been getting colder and the amount of rain is crazy. The other day we had a thunderstorm with some incredible rainfall. Today it didn't stop raining all day. Just incredible. Today's high was only 6°C with a low of 5°C. That's also what it felt like - day and night the same weather.  We didn't have any frost yet but tomorrow night it's forcasted to drop down to -1°C at least at the airport. We will see how it turns out. 🌦️🥶

These next few days will be a little chilly in FL. It’s a good time to do some microclimate testing. I have my 3rd sensor on my Spindle in the side yard and it seems to be doing well so far.

A good test to run.  Hope the winter doesn't make any of us cross out our new zone designation ;)

Tempest sensor says 39.6 so far, with the others in the yard at 44, 45, and 43.  Greenhouse is at 54 with a heater.  I'm hoping it's just a chilly night and not a signal of how cold it gets here.  It's odd how fast it changes though, so all I can do is watch my sensors and see what happens.

The first frost of -1°C just hit the official weather station last night. In my garden it stayed just above freezing with 0.3°C. We had high of only 5.0°C today. A bit of rain in the morning but most of the day it was dry. This night's forecast looks similar. 🌥️🥶🌴

Came in at roughly the same numbers.  A few of the other stations locally were milder overnight, but if you have to shave degrees, shave them when it doesn't zap anything.

If you had 1/2 inch overnight Thursday-Friday on your bingo card then go ahead and mark the square!

Nice to get a "positive" surprise. All my plants gonna be happy-happy. More 70's on tap now starting Monday, with an outside chance of 80. Great weather.

Looks like i might have eeked out about .12" ..maybe a little more at the house but, all the " heavier " stuff stayed either just to my north / east, or down across Pinal Co.  Good for sure regardless..

Well the cold spell we had seems to be over and it's getting warmer day by day. It wasn't too severe for me. Most of the nights the temperature lingered with ups and downs just between 0°C and 0°C and 1°C. Sometimes dropping down shortly to -1°C. The coldest it got was -2°C in a short dip yesterday morning around 8.a.m.. Yet it's been dry for once. No rain, no snow, no ice. No sub-zero daytime high. There wasn't even frost on roofs or cars or anything which means, also not on plants... Yet I still hope the wetness of the weather we had before didn't harm anything with this brief period of light frosts. Today's high was 3.4°C with a low of 0.2°C this morning. 🥶🌡️🌴

47f/8.3c in London currently. Last night the low was exactly 0c, the coldest it got to throughout the freeze no sub zero temps.Right and as it hit 0c which it stayed at for only a few mins the sky changed from crystal clear to cloudy and the temp rose. Then as the warmer airmass started to push in the temp shot up throughout the rest of the night. Cold dry air freeze and because of that I didn't see any frost. London city airport however had freezing fog which is extremely rare for there, the last time that happened was 2010 and before that 1981.

Good for sure.  A bit of irony?  Sleep w/ a fan on and you know it is pretty chilly out when the cold air coming thru the window " seeps " into your blankets / briefly wakes you up, lol.. Note to self:  Window closed when it drops below 45F /  7.2C.   95% sure we bottomed out at somewhere between 38-40F / 3.3- 4.4C that morning.

Bigger irony is a quick look at this year vs. last year at ~roughly~ the same time. Was already getting pretty chilly and we'd had some decent rain thus far last year.  Was ..~roughly~ 8 or so days out from a close call w/ passing, valley elevation Snow showers ( Pictured half way down my Dec. 17th post on page #7 in the " Cloud Photos " thread. ).

For now, Forecast is looking a bit warmer ..and dry.. thru the same time period this year.. Maybe some rain approaching S. Cal on the 17th, if the 12Z GFS is correct.

We'll see of course, but, possible 90-95% of December stays dry -and mild-,  -here at least-  as well this year.   Majority of rainfall that has been hitting the west so far this year has been mainly confined to areas north of San Francisco, and esp. the Pac. N.W.  where they're currently getting dumped on.

As far as the bigger picture is concerned, related to what influence El Nino may have ( ....or not... )  out here for the next couple months..  Weather weenies should easily get the following clue, lol..  She's baack!..

I'm sure someone could if they wanted to. There's at least one specimen that has been observed here in the valley ..Not interested in doing so myself. Many more interesting things to focus on growing.

60F after a start in the low 40s on the way to somewhere between 78 and 82 later..

Rare, early Winter ( Meteorological ) AM view of the Western U.S on " True Color ' Satellite.. W/ high pressure sitting overhead atm, nice N' quiet ..for now..  Can clearly see who has received snow thus far this season ...Mainly the usual spots ..Rockies / higher peaks in UT, and N.E. NV., some snow cover in the N.W. corner of N.M. / Chuska Mtns on the border of N.W. NM. / N.E AZ.,  and some topping the crest of the Sierra Nevada / possibly some covering the mountains in the far northern part of the state / S.E. corner of Oregon.  A little Tule fog hanging out down the center of the Central Valley as well..

Cool perhaps, closer to San Fran at least,  but an otherwise, mainly clear day for a trip to the beaches along Coastal central and S. Cal.

Quiet winter day from KS. to TX. as well.  Not a bad way to start off December..

I just check my gardening zone by zip code and I am in solid 8b now. That mean all of puget sound is 8b in Washington state.

Started the evening with a slow drop to 54 which rapidly rose to 63 with a little bit of wind off the water. The effect stops a slight bit inland where it is still 51 in shady hills a few miles east.  I'm one mile away from the marshes and open water, but after that it starts the rapid descent in temps.  Parts of Pinellas away from water are in the upper 50s now. This will all change when the wind switches to calm or an easterly component when my temps will drop like a rock.

That 33 was from a different day. It did get down to about 37 the morning of the 80 high. Got down to 44 this AM after the 80 high yesterday.

It's the desert. A difference of 30 degrees is common, 40 happens from time to time.

:greenthumb: Yep... 20 - 40deg difference between the morning low / afternoon high = VERY common occurrence here, esp. this time of year.

Looks like it bottomed out somewhere between 47 and 51 after hitting 81 yesterday.  Phoenix ( at Sky Harbour ) was a deg. shy of their record yesterday. Could tie ( if they hit 82 again ) or break today's record high ...if it reaches 83 or 4  today.

Lots of 83-85 neighborhood Wx readings between 3 and 4PM around town ..A few stations, which could be running a touch warmer than the majority, flirted w/ 90 as well.

Mid 70s to about 80 tomorrow.
