sashaeffer
Jim, I'm like you. Don't really get into growing palms from seed unless they are of fast germinating and fast growing species so I can enjoy them at least looking like a palm. Not getting any younger.... I am kind of like that as well. That is why I like Washingtonia, I don't want just a seedling in my yard my whole life! PalmTreeDude

Jimhardy
Here is an example of what to look for, notice all the fans are open except the one nearest to the spear, this shows that there is damage to the petiole further down in the spear area... the damage was enough to get the spears on the outside but the smallest one tucked in there is still in tact (last time I checked)however the next one up did pull and it will lose the fan that is closing. siege2050
Mine while wrapped went through 2F last night with more leaf curl but I suspect it has something to do with dehydration of the fronds after they get that weird watery look that usually goes away by the next day. I think I read somewhere that the cells expel water into the surrounding tissue to keep from freezing and bursting. Usually, it goes away the next day but I think when it gets this cold it dehydrates and curls the fronds. They seem to expand again over a week or two after. I will unwrap them again tomorrow for the next couple of weeks at least and see how bad the damage is.
