Interesting palm, colorful stem and attractive crown when small, then for a few years it looked rather ordinary, but now it's developed into a stunning palm.

Nice habit, clean, compact, and great scale. Not a heavy clumper, at least this one, which is nice.

    I also meant to mention that the photos are a bit on the dark side, 13" of rain (330mm) in the last 24 hours, still raining and heavy overcast. 

    Palms are diggin it though.

    13"?  Damn.  We've gotten only a couple down here in Pahoa, I would guess.

    Very nice there Tim I agree with you it is atttractive palm all around. I don't think they clump as what most think of as clumping rather they seem to have two stems or trunk . All that I have seen look just like yours though I have seen  only three yours  mine and Jeffs.:D All joking a side they are wonderful  mid size palm .

    Bill, I had always thought this little Palm would remain small, maybe getting to 4 or 5 feet. It's way past that now and not sure just how tall it's ultimately going to be.

    Tim, I got to see your garden some day. Lots of great palms and plants. I have two of these I got from Jeff also. One stayed single and the other did what Bill said they do and only 'clumped' into two stems. I find them tricky here as they don't like winter. But they grow. 

    Also, it is Dypsis sp. Ambanja for those nomenclature checkers. :)

    I just looked on Jeffs price list and he has them as 4'' GOOD DEAL.

    Very cool Tim, got lucky and bought a few seeds from Rps with very good germination rates, so good to see a mature specimen

    A blast from the past. I was looking at this sp. Ambanja this morning and they still look great. A bit tall nowadays, but not a neck breaker. 

    They are hard to pick out in the one one photo, but follow the trunks up from the red handled lopers.
