My Juvenile garden in Leucadia California

I decided to go back in time and look at some of the earlier posts I did on my garden.  It is interesting to note that at the time I thought I was giving a decent amount of space for things to grow.  Time has shown otherwise, as my garden is actually overflowing in some areas.  It is fun to see what it once looked like and think about the expectations I had at the time.  Many plants have actually outperformed my expectations on speed of growth.

Do we ever really give these plants the right amount of space to grow?  Doesn't seem like it.  I'm guilty of that more than anyone, but that's part of the fun I guess.  Cram it all in, no matter how much or little space we have!

I started out by planning for full crown clearance, "thy fronds shall never cross!"  And then my wife said, "You know, it looks kind of sparse."  So I planted another 100 palms and cycads and agaves and...er...yeah.  That was a serious tactical mistake on her part.  :P
