Vitamin Soak for Seeds

Hello:

I found this fascinating article where scientists increased the germination and disease resistance of pearled millet with a 6h soak in vitamin rich water followed by a foliar niacin and MSB treatment when the seedling emerged.

I know there isnt a direct relation between downy mildew in pearled millet and palm trees, but it has me curious as to the relationship between a vitamin soak and seed germination.

I will set up some tests that do everything but inoculate and report back!

edit - - i had only a faint idea of what menadione sodium bisulphite was before starting on this. it is not good for you or aquatic environments, and should be approached with caution in a professional scientific manner. make sure you own a quality mask and gloves and are always familiar with anything you're interested in testing or handling!

Loved the abstract, wish I could read the whole article.

And for disease issues, research using plain old aspirin.
