And, they sprouted!

In a hundred years, they could look like the monster in front of the Hotel Del Coronado.

Congrats - that's a funky looking tree for sure! How long did they take to germinate? I love these things!

They popped right up, after about a month.

They even survived my horrific mistreatment, and now they're in my greenhouse.

Wow!!! Nice monster!

That, in a thousand years more, will be like this.

This is a picture of my little babies, in my greenhouse.

They're a bit the worse for wear after being outside for too long in the cold. They're nowhere near as tough in the baby stages as some of the other dracks.

In 1,000 years, like Monover's picture? (Can hardly wait!)

They popped right up. They were planted in the summer, June, I think. Didn't get around to repotting them till after Christmas.

I really like D. draco.  I have grown these from seed and some of the ones that a I grew have bloomed fortunately none of the ones that I kept have bloomed yet.  I hope the ones i kept get tall before branching.

It looks like your seedlings are a bit stretched out.  Are they getting enough light?

They're struggling to survive my mistreatment.

I put them in too much light and cold, and they burned, so now they're recovering from that. A little stretch won't hurt them, so my succulent pals say.

So can I assume if a plant is carrying seeds they will be fertile? I saw some on a plant at work and was wondering if the plant is a selfer?

Should be. Float test (likely-viable seeds will sink in water; floaters are far less likely to germinate) first. Remove as much pulp from fruits and air-dry for a few days before sowing.

SoCal and SoFla; zone varies by location.

At some point the babies will be big enough to purvey.

Or, another crop of seeds will come along.

  • 7 years later...

I just planted 10 Draco seeds this morning. Saw a couple different methods for planting. Should I cover them with plastic wrap? I'm hopeful from seeing all the above posts that they will germinate. Thanks!
