Great Gate Lock/Latch for Fences

A few years ago when we installed a new redwood fence we were looking for a good gate lock. Something that wouldn't rust, would latch so we could go in and out if we wanted, and could be locked from one side or the other depending on if we were staying inside our backyard or were leaving our yard and on the outside of our fence. I found this Australian company called D&D Technologies and purchased their Lokklatch Deluxe system. We were able to buy it locally from a San Jose, CA fence company that carried their products. Comes in black or white. It's been great, and I was thinking others here might be interested in it. Our plant person has recommend it to several other of her customers. We hired a locksmith to install it and he wasn't aware of it and thought it was great and said he was going to recommend it too. I will also mention the lock has keying options and it can be installed on wood, vinyl or metal gates so very versatile.

Here's a photo of our gate from the street view. The lock is not really noticeable so avoids being ugly.

Here's a close up of the Outside View and then the Inside Fence View.

For more info here's their website; they have a number of different kind of gate latches and locks. D&D Technologies - Lokklatch Gate Latch/Lock

BTW the website under features for this product currently says it is self-locking. I believe that is a typo for this model and only applies to the Lokklatch SL model (assume SL means Self Locking) which is a commercial version for apartment buildings, etc. where you want it to lock behind the person leaving.

It may not be clear from the photo or manufacturer's website but when you are on the outside and the gate isn't locked, to get in you push in on the outside "button" (where the lock is) and when depressed it unlatches the gate. Pushing in the "button" does not lock the gate--only done with the key.

That's a pretty cool gate lock. I've never seen it before. And I've seen many.

The blue palm looks pretty cool too. It looks like a mini Jubea. I would rather have one like that than a huge fat Jubea in my small yard.:greenthumb:

Consider installing a keyed door for your fence if going technologically is not your thing and you have a wood gate lock. You can use a key in this manner to open your fence gate.
If installing a deadbolt inside the fence's gate frame is not an option, consider installing a keyed latch instead.
