This tree is in the garden and it has no label... if anyone can help out, please let me know if there is anything specifically I can take pictures of to help with identification. Thanks much!

Hard to tell from the pics.  Could be T. rosea or it might be a Handroanthus, which most of the very hard wooded species of Tabebuia have been transferred into.

So many species,

so little time.

Thanks guys! I think I am gonna go with handroanthus albus. The leaf pattern looks right for it--any qualms with that? Anyone need any more pics?

Without seeing the flowers I would be very hesitant about assigning a species.  If you are making signs or just want to identify the tree, more better to just call it Tabebuia sp. or Handroanthus sp.  We are all just guessing at this point.

What you don't want to do is label it as definitely this or definitely  that if you are in a public garden that people use as a reference to identify other trees.  Your level of responsibility rises in a public garden versus your private backyard.  Have you talked with the folks at the Tropical Flowering Tree Society?  They would be a good reference and are local.

Good call, Jerry. I have not spoken to anyone at the flowering tree society, but until it flowers I will hold off on a name.
