Sandy Loam Posted November 15, 2015 Report Share Posted November 15, 2015 Wow. It is hard to see the Chilean Wine Palm in that tree -- heavy on the Butia traits. Even if it turns out looking almost like a pure Butia, you will at least have enjoyed a much faster growth rate. Pure Butias are incredibly slow growers. Pure Butias are incredibly slow growers. I agree.. its starting to fill out crown wise.. and it appears to be a little different than butias with twisted hastula? Not sure.. I'm hoping for the trunk mass.. because I think I need something a little more crown hardy than Butia. The reasons why I love butia in my climate... no leaf damage from cold which is a big plus.
