I've been back at it for a long time now and have finally got around to posting a few pic's of my progress. The weather here in Vista California has been sensational this month and planting at the vista garden is in full swing.

 

planted these the other day. I think both of these plants are under utilized in our socal gardens

Ok I'll post some pictures :) . Its nice to know you guys are still interested in this thread.

I'll start with a real nice dypsis prestonia hybrid I recently dug out :yay:

I'm suuuuuppppper excited about this one now in my collection. This is not a palm you see very often growing.

It didn't even blink when I dug it out. as a matter of fact I marked the spear the day I dug it and it pushed 3 inches of new growth in only 2 days;)

dug this bad boy last week. I actually thought I lost it. I had to do some major trimming to keep it alive. I dug this during our big heat wave last week :( but it bounced right back and is pushing new growth   :)

day after dig. I actually took the string off the trunks. they were a bit wobbly. I'm glad the palm stabilized and is growing very nicely. I should have all the new fronds back in notime :)

this palm is opening a new leaf as we speak. It has now pushed 2' of new growth in only 3  weeks. very fast growing

Jason's famous Dypsis onilahensis 'Single Trunk' (possible hybrid) the leaves twist a bit just like an D. Ambostirae or a Deceipiens. stunning tree.

it has opened a new leaf since the dig and pushing a new spear out as we speak

Jason's Dypsis Ambositrae 'Stiff leaf'

I'm very lucky to have this in my collection now. I have never seen a 'Stiff Leaf' form of Ambositrae before. the leaves are just as stiff as a Dypsis decipiens.

I got a HUGE root ball on this one since I was not sure how they dig. It has since pushed up 12 inches of new growth. According to BS mad I'm in the clear :)

When I saw Jason's garden on the palm society tour a couple years ago I was blown away. I'm excited to have some of his rare stuff in my collection now.

Glad those beauties are rocking it Josh! Two of the 3 I dug from Jasons have done fantastic (The magnifica and the betafaka)... but both Len and I have had slow growth/movement on our stiff leaf "ambos". Both of ours were very loose when we got home. I think the giant root ball you got was key. Possibly you packing the soil like you do was the other bonus. I don't have the heat you or Len have, but I'm not worried...while it has barely pushed 1/16" of inch, it seems to have "firmed up" as such and still looks great!

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.
