Spontaneous natural jubaea x queen hybrids???

I missed that with Rob.

Did you collect the seeds yourself?

I will tell you where there may be a problem with the Jubaea x Syagrus theory. Before Patrick began crossing these two palms I have never seen a naturally crossed JUbaea x Syagrus, or anything close to what we now know to be the cross. As Patrick says, this is very difficult to cross manually, so it will be much tougher to have a natural hybrid. My guess is if the seeds did come from a Jubaea as you believe, it will end up to be something different. But then again, there are firsts for everything.

Would Patrick ever say making one was easy? That would dare people to try it and also make people question why they are spending a lot of money on something that can be done easily. I am not trying to say it is easy, there is a lot of prep and redundancy that goes into it, but what is difficult for one man can be easier for another... Bees are hard workers!

Axel also has an interesting point about Syagrus pollen and how the cold keeps them from being as invasive as they are in South Florida.
