Palms of Cuba Tour 2014

for those Miami Biennial 2014 participants who are still considering the independently organized Post-Biennial Palms of Cuba Tour 2014, I’m sharing my 10-23-2013 Q&A with Carolann Sharkey, Director, Florida Keys TREE Institute:

QUESTION: I found two of my Palm Society friends from Dallas who have now also signed up for the Cuba tour. Is the Cuba tour full yet with 40 confirmed attendees? ANSWER: As of right now we are full with a waiting list. We may be putting on a pre-trip. If you know of others who may want to go, please have them email me.

QUESTION: Are there a minimum number of people who must sign up for the 5 day/4 night “add-on” guided cultural tour extension in Havana June 8-12, 2014? Is that extension tour definitely happening for us? ANSWER: The extension is a go. You will be billed for the extension when the final payment is due.

FYI – I just “Liked” FKTreeInstitute on Facebook – I’m on Facebook as “DanTom BigIsland”

Thanks, spread the word!!!

GOOD NEWS – due to popular interest Carolann Sharkey, Director Florida Keys TREE Institute, has arranged for an additional Palms of Cuba tour. It will be a “Pre Biennial tour”, however, it looks like that tour will NOT offer an "addon" optional tour for those who want to do an extended cultural stay in Cuba. A few folks are now switching from the regular Post-Biennial Cuba tour they originally booked to the newly arranged Pre-Biennial Cuba tour. Carolann is doing her best to accommodate everyone’s preferences before both tours are completely filled. Anyone who is seriously interested in a Cuba tour should contact Carolann soon.

Well for those wanting to see Roystonea violacea. Its at the most eastery point of the island. And maybe you will find some seeds then!

Yes! The itinerary lists C. baileyana, yarey, rigida, cowellii, gigas, glabrescens, hospita, and fallaensis along with some hybrids that we might see! Some specifically state they will be in habitat, but I know we will go to public and private gardens as well. And yes, that's just the Copernicia list....

You can tell I'm not excited at all.
