PSSC May 2013 meeting in Santa Barbara

Featured Replies

Hello, everyone:

We're back in a garden we haven't been to for a long time, which I've never seen.

The May 2013 PSSC meeting will take place on May 18, 2013 in the Bill Burke and NancyBell Coe garden in Santa Barbara. The site was formerly the home and garden of the Gunther Schwartz family. Since our visit seven years ago, the garden suffered fire damage and neglect before careful restoration by the present owners Bill and NancyBell.

Gunther Schwartz (in spirit!) would be delighted by our return to his now carefully restored garden. The garden is known for the most varied collection in Santa Barbara and outstanding succulent planting. Gunther devoted 25 years creating his garden on a 2-acre site.

2 acres in Santa Barbara. Hard to beat that.

Dave Bleistein, PSSC President

Schedule:

11:00-12:00 Self-guided tour of Gunther’s garden

12:00- 1:00 Potluck lunch and socializing

1:00- 1:30 Meeting and lecture on the terrace

1:30- 3:00 Auction and raffle

Directions:

From the South:

Northbound 101 Freeway to Santa Barbara, exit at Mission Street, go right. At the end of Mission Street, left on Laguna, right on Los Olivos. Go past Santa Barbara Mission- Los Olivos becomes Mission Canyon Road. Turn right on to Foothill (Route 192). Go left on Mountain (also Route 192). At the next intersection proceed straight onto Mission Ridge(also Route 192) . Go left on Stanwood (also Route 192) (at the fire station). Go left on El Cielito to 50 El Cielito (zip is 93105). Burke’s cell is 650-369-0367.

Please remember to bring a dish to congribute to the potluck. PSSC will

provide the main dish and soft drinks.
