gsn
Larry, Unfortunately the wunderground just dropped you another 2 degrees to a low of 36. But before they even dropped the forecast low ,they had an advisory from NOAA . My question is why would they put out this advisory and not forecast freezing temperatures? ??? Statement as of 5:25 AM EST on January 25, 2007 ... Much colder and drier air to move into west central and southwest Florida tonight and Friday... A developing area of low pressure over the south central Gulf early this morning will move east across the southern peninsula later today and into the western Atlantic tonight and Friday. A cold front trailing from this low will sweep across the region later today as cold high pressure builds in from the northwest. An increasing northerly wind flow in the wake of the front will usher in a much colder and drier air mass which will result in some near freezing temperatures over interior sections of the Nature Coast by early Friday morning... with lows falling into the lower and middle 40s across the remainder of west central and southwest Florida. In addition to the cold temperatures winds around 10 mph may support some low wind chill values early Friday morning. Residents needing to be outdoors overnight into early Friday morning should dress in layers to protect themselves from the cold. Although a long duration of freezing temperatures is not expected at this time some damage to temperature sensitive plants will be possible in the coldest location over the Nature Coast as well as interior sections of west central Florida early Friday morning. Residents should plan to cover or bring indoor any sensitive plants early this evening to protect them from the cold. Pets should also be brought indoors as well. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for further updates on the developing cold weather expected tonight and Friday. && For additional weather information... check our website at http://weather.Gov/tampabay Scott Titusville, FL 1/2 mile from the Indian River USDA Zone COLD

I just learned something about WU. If I type in my zip (34689) I get a forecast of 37F. If I type in Tarpon Springs, I get 36F and also a default station that is not near me (and I believe is in 34688, which is the NE corner of Pinellas). The proper way to access the Tarpon Springs weather is by typing in 34689....as that way my weather station's data comes up In any case, the WU forecasts are 90% of the time junk, so I dont give them much weight. I watch NWS more closely as they hit it more than the others do. For tonight, NWS and WU are pretty close (38 and 37F respectively). So, maybe we have something here Weather.com is still clinging to a 44F forecast which will likely prove too high.
