No details of where or what and no commentary, nice pics though, still a fair build up of demerits though. :D

Let's not get off topic!!! Go back to the Jubeaopsis caffra--whose is that and lets talk more about it! Wow, sir; there are not many of those in the world, are there? If so, let's hijack this thread and post em up! :D

Great pictures!

Does anyone have any pics of the orange or red stem J.C.?

That J. caffra is at the Catamarran hotel in San Diego... But I have noticed pretty much without fail that the color seems to be a function of heat...

All the ones with color seem to be where it is warm/hot. The Catamarran is no further than 1000 feet from the Pacific and closer to a bay.

Still my favorite looking one though

Strike me blind for saying this but (scarcity be damned) that Jubeaopsis is an unkept looking palm and not attractive a'tall, looks like rats would have a field day in there.

You're sort of right, Gonzer, as it looks much better in person. It's a huge tree, even though it doesn't really look it in the pic.

I think J. caffra is a bit of an acquired taste, at least they are for me.

Solid zone 9, I can expect at least one night in the mid to low twenties every year.

Hot, dry summers. Cold, wet winters.

Nice Pictures.

Is it correct to assume that

Jubeaopsis caffra = Coconut with a Phoenix Dactylifera trunk ?

Bingo Harry, exactly what I was trying to say. ThumbsUp.gif
