Dear all,

dear friends of the best palm forum around the world,

please excuse my very long and without comment absence but you have to believe me: it has been never my intention to be offline such a long time. The truth is that I have had a hard breakdown at work with strange indications. I have had luck, I am working as PA to one of the clinical directors of the university hospital in Dusseldorf ... my colleagues initiated a very fast transportation to the neurology ... and in result of the CT they diagnosed an aneurism that bleeded. To make it shorten: I have had a cerebral haemorrhage ... the following emergency operation generated a long hospital stay, physical therapy and a lot more.

I am fighting back to take part in life again, with all it´s beauty, hope and luck. I know that sometimes my right arm and leg will work in 100%. And I hope that I am able to go to work in a very near future.

Would like to tell you how much I missed all the people here, how happy I was to read all the lovely private messages.

Now I am back and this means so much to me.

Coming back to palms I would like to share my joy about my Lytocaryum "babies" - the twins of the L. hoehnei and one of my 3 L. weddelianum.

Verena, so sorry you have been ill and now so glad you are feeling better and came back. I missed your posts. Do visit us often so we can lift your spirits. I wish my Lytocaryums looked as beautiful as yours. I have only a few in 4" pots left and I don't think they will live long. They really hate my hot, humid climate so I won't torture any more. Yours are truly lovely.

Hi Verena! Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your ilness.I hope you will recover 100% very soon!!!

When I see my L.wedelianum and hoehnei I remember you!!!:)

Last I was at the Botanical garden from plantarum and the owner (Harri lorenzi) gave me two L.insigne seedlings that I was looking for a long time. This is a higher altitude palm than L.weddelianum . The new leaves are ´´strap leaves´´ (like Syagrus) and very different from L.wed. You have to find some of this and also L.itapebiensis!..................So...lots to do!!!!:D

Carambeí, 2nd tableland of the State Paraná , south Brazil.

Alt:1030m. Native palms: Queen, B. eriospatha, B. microspadix, Allagoptera leucocalyx , A.campestris, Geonoma schottiana, Trithrinax acanthocoma. Subtr. climate, some frosty nights. No dry season. August: driest month. Rain:1700mm

I am seeking for cold hardy palms!

I am not able to describe what I feel at this moment when I read all those lovely posts. Being offline about 2 hours I have to go again at Palmtalk. A lot of tears later I knew where I belong to ... ;) You are true and real friends - a wonderful emotion.

But it is very important for me to tell you that I am very sad to hear about Peachy and her fate. :( I will join the donation, too, at the beginning of March. Unbelievable ... but good to know that she is well after the monster storm and with her handicap.

Sorry, but this have to be noted:

ALBERTO! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I am waiting for contact address, price and delivery. :D Where the hell you have bought it? Detail now and here. What amazing news. I am afraid that you are responsible for my insomnia ...

I MUST HAVE SEEDLINGS OF THE 2 MENTIONED SPECIES.

Love, Verena

Time to go to bed. It is late in Germany ... 11 p.m. Good night @ all :)

It is hard for me to find the right words that describe what I feel when I read all these replies. The conclusion that a lot of people noted that I was absent, that they missed me a little bit is more than I have expected. I believe that a lot of people are looking for this their whole life along and never find it.

What I have here and with you is of a dimension I realized at the moment I was able to return.

Please let me tell you the one: YOU ARE REALLY FRIENDS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SYMPATHIES. :)

But look to one of my last palms that have found their way to me. :D May I introduce Nemesis, the Grand Dame of all of my palms? It is simply a giant.

Unfortunately the last pic is a little bit wiggly but it gives you an idea of it´s real size.

Love, Verena

PS: Alberto - I am waiting! *beating the devil's tattoo on the table* :D :D
