Recommended Posts

Hi,

Last night was a windy night with a lot of wind, but the expect the wind get more speeds in the night ...

The last weather report say for here a possible heavy storm with wind speeds the can go to 110 km/u = 68 Mph

It's a small quick moving storm, but the don't know with way he goes, so i can be that the north of the country get the most wind or maybe the south ...  The say also that big damage to forest and houses is possible  ???

The orange places must be carefull ...

Yeah we got that very same gale last night/early morning  and I reckon I was lucky it knocked just a single fence panel out and no palms or trees were affected; (they were after all , planted by a Genius!) Ha ha ha etc.

If there is a moral I would say: know your microclimate/s, know your soil and know your palms/plants.

Last report say's we can get wind speeds tot 125 Km/hour = 77 Mph  ???  The strongest winds we get between 00.00 and 02.00 hour tonight ...

It's so diffrent, it's winter now but it looks like the autemm also the tempeture's are not winter tempetures  :P

30 December 2005, we have also a weather report for a huge part of the netherlands. But that time it was for the snow ... I don't have got snow at that time, i was living in the part of the netherlands the tempetures are to high at that moment, so i have got rain that day ...

But in the north and east look everthing very white that day, but that was last year ... this year it's stormy weather :)

The last report say we can get wind speeds between the 110 - 130 Km/Hour = 68 - 80 Mph.

I have also read that the Germain weather service say's that the north of germainy can get wind speeds tot 150 km/hour = 93 Mph ...

Thats a little hurricane power i think ?

It's been windy here since yesterday afternoon and not due to stop until Monday, which is posing problems for my polytunnel.  Fortunately nothing like 77mph.

Looks like some really intense winds. I know all too well what hurricane force winds can do. Hopefully you didn't sustain much damage. I think I read in another post of yours that you had a sabal damaged?

That looks terrible - I'm so sorry Robbin, I hope you are okay.  Storm-force winds can do some wicked damage.

Hi,

I'm fine, in the yard i think that the palms, that are tided up for a protection are lucky. The palms that don't protected have some little leaf damage, Trachycarpus, Washingtonia and Cordyline. Only my Sabal texensis don't have got big leafes anymore, there are shorter now.

But, i have see new cards, next thursday again! We get a same thing, the tempeture will be very mild again 15C/59F but the expect another storm, but a stronger one then this one ... with higher wind speeds, and higher windspeeds over the land ... so if this happend we get more damage ... We will see ...

I have found some picture's from somebody that have made a little trip around his living place ... also today was very mild 13C/55,4F.. I think also that we have lucky that the tree's has lost al the leafes ... Because my Eucalyptes has it more difficult last night to stand up because the winds .... they have got leafes ... i think if that tree will be big in a day .....

We are expected to have winds of 60-70mph tomorrow with a possibility of 80mph.  I'm expecting a new, high powered air circulation fan to arrive today, but it looks like I may not need it after all.

How is your garden doing Robbin, I hope things are not too bad.
