Took some photos of some very high altitude queens yesterday. Very cold place.
I noticed the petioles are purple, how common is this amonsgt other queens ?
The babies from this tree also come up with purple petioles, wide spacings on trunk and FAT.
This is the first time I've seen purple color on a queen palm. I found this at a local big box store in Harlingen. I think it's a 20-gal size and had no price tag or other info. Might be a cold hardy variety - everything looks typical aside from the color. No others with it - only one like this.
