Fall is around the corner. High of 96 today, but I can't wait till Wednesday. Even tonight there is an eerie coolness in the air. At 85 I may just shiver.

With the humidity added, what does that feel like? Is it similar to Florida's weather?

We were so uncomfortable in Florida with the humidity, we moved to California.

Of course, we are now in Hawaii.

Good deal. I have to wait 2 more months for temps to fall below 90.

With the humidity it can be a bear. It's like Florida, but without the breeze. Having lived here all my life, I am used to it. The only time it gets to me is after a summer afternoon rain, when the sun pops right back out and all that evaporation kicks in, it is quite literally like being in a sauna.

We had a few days where the temperatures stayed down near 80 F last month when the very tail end of a cold front blew in from Argentina. But, for the norm a day that does not hit 90 F is the exception. Well in the rainy season there are a lot of days around 88 F. I remember the first time I was in Lousiana back in 1980 when I moved from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale. It was in August and I thought it was real humid and hot. Actually I think the weather on the Gulf Coast may actually get more oppressing then here. I have been in Houston in August and it was miserable. From now until mid November nearly every day will be from 95 F to over 100 F in the city. One thing which is interesting is that after a thunderstorm downpour it always cools down somewhat here. It is not like Florida and the Gulf Coast that has the sauna effect. Normally the downdraft winds with the storm and the rain bring cooler air down and for the most part it moderates the temperature somewhat for the rest of the day. Maybe I will be lucky and La Niña will bring some rain. I guess that at the end of the day you just can not compare an lowland humid equatorial climate to one elsewhere.

Well, so much for the cool. Upper air disturbance has a big giant tropical air mass spinning over us. High tomorrow with not be 84, but instead will be 90. Still a break from mid to upper 90s but not quite what I was hoping for.
