Un amigo de las palmeras sacó la semana pasada esta foto en el Palmetum de Santa Cruz.

Es la hoja nueva naranja de Heterospathe minor.

Aprovecho para lanzar este tema sobre el género Heterospathe. Espero que alguien recoja la pelote y aporte fotos.

Por lo general, son faciles de cultivar, pero poco resistentes al frío y a la sequía, probablemente con excepciones.Heterospathe elata es la más común en cultivo. Hay mucha diversidad y me llama la atención H.glauca, con un espectacular capitel glauco-blanco

En los años más recientes algunas especies ubicadas en otros géneros han sido englobadas en Heterospathe.

El género entonces ha crecido y ahora incluye 39 especies, según la World Checklist del Jardín Botánico de Kew:

I only have one species... Heterosphate elata.. I have 4 in the ground now...

Está aún dentro de la caseta (se ve en la foto), con malla de sombra al 60% (luego es menos sombra porque le entra el sol por los lados cuando está más bajo.

Parecen fáciles de cultivar.
