Dypsis Black stem

Bags

Recommended Posts

I saw a thread a while ago in which this palm was officialy described as Dypsis Baronii which means it is flowering some where. Have those seeds made it to the States. Does anyone have any? This looks like one of the most amazing palms out there. Thanks, Aaron

There are some pics HERE

And yes, seeds of this palm have been brought back to SoCal where you live. However, I am not sure if I am at liberty to say who has these available. Maybe someone else will mention a name. I don't think he would mind, but I would prefer to get his OK first.

You are looking for just a seedling/small plant, correct?

Christian,

Definitely count me in if you come up with a true black stem Dypsis.

Thanks...

Christian - I am interested. If you want to bring some to the South Florida Palm Society Sale at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden November 7 & 8th, we could do what every palmaholic loves to do, trade. PM me around mid October and tell me what is on your wish list. You know we always have some interesting species.

Kindest regards, :)

Ron.

I think we're talking about the 'black stem' variety of D. baronii as seen at Vakona Lodge.

Jeff,

Did you read the link that Dean posted. That is the one. It is a Baronii, but a very unique variety. Aaron

All I know is I believe we are talking this exact same palm. A D. baronii with some nice coloration.

I wish my D. baronii looked like the one on the right of this page HERE

I think the Florida guys are just trying to stir the pot. I can tell by the school girl giggling coming through my computer. :mrlooney:
