Amazing thread! Love all the pictures!

Here's from our free camping at a deserted beach in Greece (I need a better camera to capture the beauty of the place though)

Last night was ok..  Depending on how cloud cover moving in atm evolves through the rest of the afternoon/ evening, tonight may be better. ( = More mid- level stuff to catch the sun better )

Yes yes lol, I’ve seen better too. Those were what the normal American would want on a post card though.
Some color has definitely been in the sky at night and in the morning lately. We’re about to get blasted with high 90’s next week, should set the sky on fire, I’ll try and snap some. Sucks at the house east and west have tall trees

Eventually, the house will have at least another large tree cutting up views of the sky.

Well, lol..  A start, but, about as good as it got this evening..   S.E AZ is where all the action stayed, inc. good cloud cover around Sunset.

Looking north at some mid level " debris clouds " moving east to west from some earlier storms in the mountains well east of the valley.
IMG_1744.thumb.JPG.2c7d49ba0b7be4e4fbf88c7ef9c42c1f.JPG

West.. Odd amount of dust -or smoke- in the sky today, despite no big, active fires locally, and no significant dust storm events anywhere in the state ..that would carry dust this far north and west anyway.

Alluded to yesterday and hinted at earlier.. Time to show the goods..

While 99% of Sunsets in Arizona are good, there are certain times of the year that present opportunities for some of our best.  Yesterday was one of those, and Monsoon Season, perhaps the best part of " Sunset Season "  here is just a few days old.

While a few aspects were missing that could have made it even better, last nights show was a top shelf - kind of Sunset... and one of the best so far this year.. with lots of different elements in play at any given moment making it tough to select " the best " pictures.

Regardless, it was also a good lesson in hanging around long enough to view the  entire  event, not just part of it ..and to comb the sky in view for scenes one might miss if not aware enough.

Starting out w/ an over view of the sky to the west.  Can see several things that could come into play as the sun sets.

IMG_2188.thumb.JPG.e12b9e591d7820f783351e558e1e5901.JPG

Some random views looking at the sky to the east.

IMG_2206.thumb.JPG.8385f27e3d4fc3ca14eb25555470647a.JPG

One of those things an impatient person might miss out on if they leave the show early, or are not paying close attention to every detail of the sky / horizon, etc.

Despite a little more storm activity the last few days, sunsets haven't been quite as good as they could be.. Some color regardless.

That " Meh " little storm?   The highlight of this evening's show..   I almost went out to the hill since it was producing lightning and looked like it was organizing itself a bit better for a time, before collapsing. Turns out it blew up right over where i'd be positioned.  A rare instance where " from the house " was the better view.

Overdone? a little bit  but,  As commonly as these are planted here,  a lot of people get tired of all the debris that can get thrown around off untrimmed specimens pretty quickly this time of year

..That's before the showers of seeds / bird poop that comes later.  Where planted in street islands, decayed leaf bases / boots, seeds / shed flower stalk spathes, and stalks can cause trouble when they drop all over the road..

What annoys me more is the city crews that trim the ones in our street island, but don't clean up the boots on some of them..  During a good storm, those boots go flying everywhere..  Washingtonia robusta   will grow their leaves back pretty quickly so,  it is what it is...  I personally would rather see something more interesting planted.

Weekend..

Saturday night.. Storms may have missed us but sitting under the 45-50K high Anvil provided for a pretty wild sunset.. Pictures don't do the sky justice.  Same storm that was headed due west toward the valley from the hills out by Superior,  but decided to veer to the left northwest over the northern parts of the valley ..before turning more west as it headed toward the AZ/ CA border.

Sunday:  Another massive storm approaching from the southeast. " Weird " colors in the clouds to the east provided hints this would be another monster.

Another sure sign this storm was turning severe, ..the wavy " shelf " developing along it's approaching edge.

I'm titling that last one "it's 144 degrees and hasn't rained significantly since April," but it wouldn't let me edit that post. Hashtag melodramatic.
