I backpacked through the Yucatan and Chiapas this summer with my sister and a few seeds somehow followed me home. Since I haven't managed to kill them yet I thought it might be time to look for an ID. I have a guess, but I also have a severe lack of knowledge when it comes to Chamaedorea. Any ideas?

These were everywhere around Palenque.

Mike,

Looks like C. ernesti-augustii to me. Mine in the garden are more robust, with thicker stems and bigger leaves, but theres quite a bit of variation in them across the range, according to Hodel.

Chriz - Thanks, that is actually what I was thinking. Turns out C. ernesti-augustii is one I actually do have and I thought they looked pretty similar. I wasn't sure if there were any look-alikes.

Bret - Thanks. I actually took a ton of pictures and one of these days I'll get around to posting them. I give Ryan kudos for his shots in CR because it is so hard to get good ones in such low light.
