hello all,

i got a queen x jubaea made by patrick, but it doesn't show jubaea characteristics at all, but doesn't look like regular queen.

could it be a Sp. abreojos ?

I'm over a month late, but I doubt it, Its still disputed whether or not Abreojos is a hybrid and Patrick's not stupid. With hybrids they are never exactly the same so yours is probably just a different looking hybrid, but best of luck!

If that’s what Patrick says I’ll take his word, but I doubt is some Mexican variant

With all due respect to everybody who is growing this plant, I always thought the original story was nonsense. Queens are so variable. I just had my last two remaining queens removed last week, and one of them looked more like a big upright Attalea. There are some real beauties, some dogs and some interesting looking ones. Like the one that started this thread so many years ago.

I have a friend that got a mule palm from Patrick years ago, and it took a while as well to come into its own. Looked a lot like just a regular queen palm for a couple years, but then really became an outstanding palm as it matured.

Sorta related to this topic, but I remembered seeing a certain queen palm in Santa Cruz, CA. This one in particular towers over the city on a cliff and is definitely not hard to miss. Huge palm and with stiff plumose leafs. I wonder...
