post # 115 is Encephalartos Whitelockii, named after Loren Whitelock, one of the world's foremost cycad experts.

post #121 looks somewhat like a freddie to me, although it could possibly be an E. lanatus.

You like those cycads, doncha Jeff?

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

Hey, cut me some slack, ole buddy. I felt like a fish out of water sometimes when I was out there. I think I held up pretty good considering all  the hot breathing I constantly felt on the back of my neck. :D  But just wait.....when you come on my turf, you better bring your own palm books, laptop, and a botanist with you. :D  I'll make you so dizzy before the days end you'll be begging for that first beer! :D

After we left Jeff's house we went over to see Len's place. Len's garden is only a few years old, but already has plenty of neat stuff. He has a beautiful pool and patio area that's great for entertaining. The center piece is this large beefy Canary Island date palm.
