Hey all,

I had the good fortune of attending a soccer party for my son's team recently. The directions said it was in Point Loma. On Point Loma was more like it. There are three homes that housed Light keepers and their families in the late 1800's that are now, unbelievably, Coast Guard officer housing. The grounds are well maintained on about three acres. I could not imagine a better piece on coastal property anywhere. Anyway, thought I'd share this image....

In case I didn't make it clear, my son's team mate and his family have lived there for several years... I think I'll join the Coast Guard..

Oh what a cool place to live!  For the folks that don't know, The "end" of Point Loma is a National Park and the "new" lighthouse (pictured) is on the very tip, down the "hill". Basically a 270 degree view of the Ocean with a "mountain" behind you.

Very private I would guess

Cool!

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

Dear Bret  :)

nice picture and i love CIDP, and that location reminds me

of a foregin movie_Sex & Lucia. its a rated R movie,but

the entire climax location is far similar to the one of your

lighthouse photos.

that movie did bag lots of european awards...

If you are old enough & have accesses to foregien

movies DVD's please see it.it is very moving & emotionally

charged final takes.

Love,

Kris.

Bret,

Yes, that's a great place! Enjoyed seeing the photo. When we lived in the SD area that was ALWAYS one place we would take visitors to. And I've also been out there VERY early in the morning on a few occasions when I ran the AFC (America's Finest City) Half Marathon from Point Loma to Balboa Park!

When we lived in CA, we would make 2-3 trips a year to Silver Strand park. We would camp out in my cousin’s RV for days and look out onto Point Loma.  Ahh the memories of Cali….

Just as an FYI folks, Houston doesn’t have quite the view of Point Loma, hahahahahhaa

Hey!  That's just down the street from me...  Gets windy there at  the very tip of the point, but very nice piece of real estate, endless views.  I like the view from the top of the point near the old lighthouse looking down on the new one (seen in photo).  Seems to me there are several taller CIDPs flanking the buildings.

Been saving this picture sent to me.....finally see a good place to share it!

For the folks that don't know the area, if one climbed up the "hill" behind that light house and looked to the eastnortheast on a VERY clear day this spring and took a picture, it might have ended up in the paper like this one!

If you squint real hard, you will see North Island in the foreground, behind that the bay, behind that San Diego, then about 50 miles behind that, the snow covered mountains!!!  Alll in one county!

Parts of Point Loma probably border on Zone 11, yet on some days you can see snow! :D

Note the little bitty Jet coming in for a landing (look for it)(not so bitty, just looks that way!)

I wish I could get the bigger shot to load up here.   If there was any confusion, I can NOT take credit for the photo.
