Happy new year to everybody

Ditto as Deezpalms says directly above.

At midnight guaranteed we'll hear plenty loud sounds from firecrackers and other fireworks.  We may join other family members at their place up mauka at over 2,000 ft. elevation and watch and hear (ears plugged) when they shoot off firecrackers by the thousands! and plenty grinds (food) too.  It can get a bit chilly up there at that high elevation at midnight especially if there's a downslope breeze, so we always dress for it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!
