region !

This plant is Swiss Cheese Plant, Monstera deliciosa. Its fruit are edible as well.  Thanks for sharing these pictures, Kris. I missed it the first time around, so I got to see a ton of pictures.

thanks kris for all the pics, very nice garden in the concrete jungle.  It's a breath of fresh air to have all the greenery (even the walls).

Dear Don  :)

you are terrefic, you have preety good observation !

keep it up...

that the house wall is mild green & the compound wall is

dark green colour(this colour is called Wimbildon green)

manufactured by british paints.

yes we love green & blue color lot.

Dear Zac  :)

Thanks for that plant I.D

And all of you kindly excuse me since iam uploading stills

and with a merckey broadband.due to constrain of time i will

certainly reply to each & every post of our members.

Kindly bear with me for the moment..

And i really miss my old canon Eos series pro stuff, all controls

can be over ride to manual mode.but the new digital camera

is annoying, and have to look into manual for every settings,

the catalogue is it self like book on aircraft flying  :(

And after that the stills have to be down sized to our uploading standards, though they have given softwares along the camera its no cup of tea for me !

Now i really understand why many of the members do not reply immedietly to my questions when they are on the

uploading spree..

Love,

Kris  :)

Dear Zac,Mike & others  :)

you guys have told me to keep you posted on nypa fruticas

developements_you guys just pray that all things go fine !

because if this works out for us.them i will post a paper or

thesis on this palm in our thread.since iam a person who

do not wish to withhold any information that could be of

emmense help to others_that's a promise.here the temperature is 82 to 108F average throught the year.i see the light in this endavour.the forum members are onces who are going to benefit.

they germinate quite easily,it is surprising because i did germinate maples, but once it came out of my A/C room they

dried up.and my dad does not own the power corporation for

me to grow maples in air conditioned room.

so if the nypas are playing games with me then...since the

germination took place in just 2 to 3 days for few seeds while

for one,after a week_so quick looks a bit strange to me ?

if you want more info visit a thread on nypa fruticas by brennett(our member)..

permission to use it in your avatars, quotes, your nursery

sites and books if you are writting one.

think that the permission is digitally signed.

because i want these stills to last for a while_if my

HDD or the servers that i upload images breaks down,

all my still will be lost forever.so make full use of it_if it

is worth while.

Thanks for all the photos, Kris.  Keep them coming!  The palm in post #184 is a Licuala - probably L. grandis, a little gem.

The photo in #175 is Caladium.  In #181, the 2nd is Dracena marginata, the 3rd looks like an Agave.

Dear Sunny  :)

thank you very much for that I.D Info, and that numbering

of the post for easy identification is very helpful.

And other guys who have given & also raised doubt in

this thread will be answered.once the uploading work is over

and when this thread is sent out of the main page.

since the american cold wave catestophy has taken main stage

of discussion.hence other pages are all sent out quickly..

Thanks folks for your encouragement & Plant I.D's

That is a nice L. grandis. I am trying my luck with a batch of seeds I brought back from Colombia, so far two have hatched and are a beautiful green toothpick you can barely notice. Hopefully my patience will get rewarded. Nice caladium too.

Plant 1 looks like Yucca aloifolia 'Variegata' Does it have tiny sharp teeth on the edge that can cut like a saw or knife?

Plant 2 is an Aloe species

Plant 3 is a Haworthia or possibly a Gasteria.

Kris, I just caught this thread, I think it started before I joined this site!

You have some superb plants in your garden and its always sunny, unlike England! We couldnt grow most of those here!

I recognise these two cacti, the one on the left is an Echinopsis that should produce a long trumpet shaped flower, posibly scented.

The bigger one looks like a Ferocactus wiszlezenii (sp)

Kris,

Thanks for the tour of your garden. The pictures are very good.

BTW, I have learned to reduce the file size of digital pictures at home using Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Other photo editors might work also.

Kris,

The Adayar Theosophical Society has several adult specimens of Nypa fruiticans - some of them growing in a stands of water. You might want to check it out.

The Society also has fully mature specimens of Adansonia digitata and other nice stuff - a sight to see.
