Happ,

About every other year a big high pressure will settle over Calif. and we can get 2 or 3 weeks of warm weather in Feb or March. It happened up here last year.  We went directly from cold to warm for about 2 weeks. Do you see anything like that happening this year, or is it to far out or hard to predict?

Dick

Same as yesterday, 7C (45F) at my place, frost on the rooftops below.

Bill, I meant 5C.  The low in Burbank was 2C (36F), and I assume that's probably a decent guess for the lowlands below me...

Your right, Dick [it is too early to see a major weather shift

What's remarkable is the radical improvement in the watershed across the West [California/Arizona/New Mexico/Colorado =  above normal w/ heavy wet snow  :P

First day above normal since mid January w/ more to come

73F/22.7c [norm: 71F/21.6c

Crisp nights and sunny warmish days here the last 3 days, and today even warmer, near 65F. Yesterday the sun was warm enough to heat my rain buckets to a tepid temp. I watered all the plants under the overhang with warm rain water. The rain and a few days of sun have greened all the hills in N. Calif. and the Poppies will be blooming soon. The wild flowers in the West should make a spectacular show this year.

39F here, still 7F below the average low for today. The idea of having an average low sounds like a wonderful dream after the last 3 months.

happ its very hard to find good informations with details of weather in mexico. we are developing country not like united states we have many less stations for weather and records is hard to find. mexico's smn has not many details on internet like nws in united states.  i do search for details of weather for december january in this winter for ciudad obregón and hermosillo sonora, guamuchil sinaloa and find nothing i can put here.

these are the princiapals cities in these areas of cultivation of tomatos but there not very big. most the cultivations away from coast in valleys by the mountains for theres water there. on the coast theres little water.

38F in Walnut Creek this morning which it has been all week, give or take a degree or two. At least it's been above freezing and no frost the last couple of days.  Yesterday was near 70F and more of the same expected today. The early signs of Spring are showing.

Be careful Matt, at the rate you're gaining you'll be like Florida soon and won't be able to grow Howea's or Jubea's because you are too hot overnite!  :P

It was above 15C (60F) all night last night, except for a dip to 14C (57F) for about 30 mintues around 4AM.  I think tonight will be the first time in a while that it doesn't drop below 15C...

Allright Jack, just to make us all feel better, you need to find the COLDEST spot on your property and only give us those readings...... So, you'll have to go waaaayy down that hill... :D

Bill,

I think the sensor is in the coldest part of my property.  I have another unofficial sensor down the hill, and the low temperatures down there are usually warmer than up top.  I think the canopy down there is thick enough to make a difference...

I feel bad too, since f-ing Happ is usually warmer than me

Bro, our conditions appear to be near identical [maybe more rain up here?  On the other hand I lust minimums like San Rafael Hills/Sierra Madre etc [never content when it comes to palms

Watered pretty heavy today & will feed tomorrow [first fertilization since last autumn

Quite warm in the most favored locations [unbelievable 91F /32.7 in Whittier :P & approaching 90F Woodland Hills/Beverly Hills/Winnetka/Malibu Canyon

Looks nice all week [but "inside slider"/interior storm may drop the temps for a few days

Happ - I whine about my microclimate a lot, but I also look at it as a challenge to conquer. Successes will mean even more. I think I might be getting more Summer warmth than my neighbors, which helps with royals and other palms.

It appears the "sometimes" high pressure we get over Calif. in Feb or March is asserting its self. This past week in N. Calif. has been mild with mid 60's to low 70's and night lows around 40F. It looks like more of the same for the coming week. My low this morning is 42F, and near 70F today for a high. Perfect weather to work in the garden, but I'm not fooling myself, as we will probably have some more cold weather before Spring gets here.

Yes, Dick, it looks like a nice week ahead - dry & sunny  :D storm track is north & east of California.  Watched a bit of the Pebble Beach golf classic & noticed how balmy it was in Monterey over the weekend.

Today should be the 4th day in a row with above 80F /26.6c maximums

80+F would make me crazy here, but 70F beats the hell out of what we had before this week. I'll take what I can get. Feels like spring anyway.

This weekend was awesome.... 70s to 80 all three days... got out and cleaned up, weeded, planted some bamboo clumps so that the neighbor's new balcony will be covered up in <2 years...

Even moved my soon to croak potted cocos and adonidia outside for a few days.... (I'm just not capable of keeping palms alive in the house  :(   )

What a difference a day can make with a drop of 21 degrees F from yesterday's maximum [strong onshore flow of coastal clouds limited sunshine].

Clouds, of-course, will keep night temps up [tomorrow may be similar to today but strong winds will eventually push the clouds out & warm-up temps into the weekend  :D
