Newbie here, who likes to watch the weather:

Nation's High:  This winter, it seems like South Florida is winning over the Lower Rio Grande Valley(South TX)

It's always a dual between the two.

However, South Florida probably always wins on the highest nightime lows.  Texas just isn't humid enough.

Bubba:

Yea, I know Texas can heat up pretty fast and pretty soon I'll be wishing it was still winter.

I say:  If you can't take the heat, grow a bunch of shade trees and tropicals.

If the tropicals freeze, then you will wish it was summer.   :)

QUOTE
Brownsville,Tx high was only 47F.I find that hard to believe.

Won't last, they are predicted to be back up to upper 70s in a couple days.  It always heats up fast in south Texas.  The Rio Grande Valley is basically identical to Central Florida (Tampa/Orlando) in the winter, or as close as you can get to it.  Both avg about 70F for January highs, 50F for lows, and heat up quickly in spring.  South FL is a little warmer although the absolute max highs can be much higher in TX as you have seen.

Bulletin-I was just informed by Keith of SoLa that the South Timbalier,La. weather station in question is in fact located deeply in the Gulf with no land. I have requested that he try to locate Weather Records for the Islands he sent pictures of because I am sure higher temperatures would be recorded. I appreciate your interest and help.

Alice TX is a little too close to home.

The heat is coming. Crank up the a/c.  Get the irrigation system going.

I bet International Falls, Minnesota would love to claim the title!!
