As the pooja & prayer work is over, which was held in the ground floor of that Mandir, now the solem undertaking between the girls' & the boy's party begins in the first floor of this mandir...and this assuriety of fixing the marriage date is done by elders who are usually married and lived life happily.this is done in front of this god seen in this photo.and this assurence is also legally binding on both the parties under the Hindu marriage act 1935.and the draft is prepared & signed by the priest and the respected elders of our community.. :)

Dear Kris,

Thank you for this very personal and colorful glimpse into your culture which is so fascinating to me.  No one minds if you are taking photos during the ceremony?  You probably have the reputation of photojournalist well established by now among your family!  Fine pictures, please continue.

Kris,

Thank you so very much for such an intimate look into a truly memorable ceremony! :)  This is certainly one aspect that makes our little palm community so special - a glimpse into different cultures and traditions.

Mahalo as they say here in Hawaii! :)

Thanks Kris.  I am starting to feel like I am part of the family.  We have quite a few Indian friends here and the culture is fascinating.  Our last adventure with them was being invited to Diwali dhoom which we thoroughly enjoyed.  Not exactly an engagement party, but great fun for sure.  -k
