THanks guys. Your thread is very entertaining. I also liked the pics of the adventures of the 3 of you even without the palmy stuff. Bo´s place is really my style. Congratulations Bo and to the others as well. Cheers Jason

Peter,  The palm in post 237 or 238 where I'm hiding behind it is Clinostigma warburgii (formerly samoense).  This is the same palm that Bo is single handedly trying to populate the world with. :D

Wow to all! Thank you guys for this neverending report on your trip.

The landscape and the atmosphere in Kona is so Canarian, reminiscent of Northern Tenerife: the stone walls, the slope over the ocean and the sight toward the volcano; I felt at home when I visited Al's beautiful garden.

This Palm, at Bo's place is especially impressive:

Paul,

You're doing a great job! I'm seeing my garden from a whole new perspective!! :)

The palm in post #286 is a Cyrtostachys loriae. I bought it from Ken Foster in early 2001, the year before he passed away. I'm fairly certain that this is from seed that he collected on a trip to Papua New Guinea in the late 1970s.

And in post #290:

photo #1 and #3: Prestoea acuminata

photo #2 and #4: Itaya amicorum

Paul and Matt,

Thank you for sharing the pictures of the trip.  Very enjoyable!!  Great pictures and entertaining snarky remarks.

Special thanks for the shot of the Licuala Cordata in Bo's place.  An I see that Al also had a Cordata mixed in with some orbicularis.

Bo - What is that palm with teh mottled leaves in post 279?  Is it Pinanga Vietchii?  Please tell us more about it.

Gene,

Post 279: Geonoma epetiolata.

A slow growing and dainty little palm. And VERY expensive! I had two of them but unfortunately lost one. I believe that Geonomas in general need very high humidity in order to really thrive. Despite all our rain, I'm convinced the environment here is just borderline for most Geonomas.
