All these lush palms, cordylines, heliconias, philodendrons, that gorgeous ae ae, but not a single bromeliad!  What's up with that? ???

Mod edit: Kim, I've heard bromeliads in the tropics can add to the mosquito population.

Ok DeanO you got me on that one! :D

Just fyi:  The small palm at the bottom of post 86 and the top of post 87 is the Dypsis that Bo calls White Dypsis.  Dean's got three of them and they're starting to look really white in the new spear.

More of our first beach day.  Paul and Dean chillin' out.

HawaiiII-036.jpg

This was the "starter beach", no waves, soft sand.  Dean said we'd have to prove ourselves in order to be eligible to see the finer beaches.  He moderated our vacation very well. :D

HawaiiII-038.jpg

"What has two thumbs and likes Hawaii?  This guy!"

Mod edit: That "Shaka" could use a little more practice.  :)   :)

A look north towards Kona Village and a swanky resort pictured on my last trip to Kona.  Notice how the rich people have reserved the sun for the whole day.

After a hard day relaxing at the beach we decided to fill our bellies with some food.  Here's Paul all dolled up, ready to go out.  Are those long shorts or short pants? ???

Dude, that Pritchardia was a monster!  It seemed much bigger than any of the other P. pacificas around.  Maybe because it was in a bit of shade.  Maybe because it was better taken care of.  Maybe because I was drunk and was actuall seeing two of them.

HawaiiII-059.jpg

Paul's got more mugs than Hallmark. ???

Mod edit: Still working on that "Shaka" ???  :)

HawaiiII-066.jpg

When we got back Paul said this, "What?!  You drank all 24 beers?"

Guys it is great to travel with you.  It also makes me want to go out and plant something, or eat something, or go swimming.  Or do all of them.  Thanks for the tour and I look forward to more.
