Just got home this morning after the longest week I have ever had as a firefighter. I received a few messages asking how I was doing and if I needed any help while I was gone so I wanted to say thanks to everyone and let you all know I'm tired but still standing and healthy.  I do want to offer my condolences to everyone who lost anything during these tragic fires.  It was extremely difficult to witness homes burn while we were saving others but we were stretched so thin we could not save them all.  Gary I have never met you in person but if you need any help I'll be there.

I thought of you when I heard some fireman were up 72 hours. Thanks so much.

After you rest, we'd love to hear any stories... they don't have to be palm related.

Glad you are healthy and well. If you or Cory need a hand with anything just let me know. I am sure your bed never felt better than it does now. Tell your fireman buddies that I will give them a fireman's discount anytime they want to come up to the Vibe. My level of respect for firemen always reaches a new level during catastrophies. Manuel wants me to tell you that you are chingon and puro padre! We miss you at the Vibe but I am sure we will work together soon.

Kick back, have a few coldies and rest up.

Have your favorite poison and a well-earned sleep.

As should all the rest of you.

I hear that 25% of SD county burned.

I hope that's not true . . .

Thanks for all the kind words and support.  The publics support has been pretty touching.  One man bought our entire crew dinner one night.  Here are a few pics that an LA Times photographer took of us fighting fire.

Nick,

Catastrophes have a way of reminding us of the many things we all take for granted. Unfortunately it takes events such as this to remind us of the bravery and dedication you guys bring when our lives, loved ones, and property are on the line.

I hope when your weariness fades you will still be left with the heart felt appreciation of us all.

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.
