Is this normal leaf wear or should I be concerned?

The butia pictured below was planted four months ago.  While it has grown several new leaves since planting, about 10 remain from prior to planting.

Possible problem:  The lowest (oldest) leaves are spotting heavily.  The next layer of leaves above the oldest have spots, although less.

Is this normal butia leaf deterioration or is this something I should be concerned with?

I'll put a close up of an old spotted leaf in a reply post.

Thanks!

Tim,

Looks pretty normal to me.  I've got three big Butias (each planted from a 30" box in 2002, 2003 and 2006)and the lower leaves are also spotted.  They keep putting out new leaves.  I've found the lower leaves take a lot longer to turn brown than most of my other palms.

BTW,  where are you located?  Please consider modifying your signature to give us your city, state and USDA/Sunset zone.

Fred has some truly bitchen Butes.

I've found that palms that grow fast and well tend to carry a lot of leaves, and in this climate, they hang on a while.  Sometimes Washies get a really elongated "flivver" crown if they get a lot of water.
