Tad 16 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 This is the green one, they have grown quite well, I wish I had planted them sooner and expect great things from them this coming spring and summer. This bed gets watered by the same constant feed program that goes on inside the shade house so they really should take off after our winter.
Exotic Life 118 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 Hi, I'm following this treath every time i see him up the board, and i love to see those picture's of the farm. I hope that i have got ground with palms like that over some years for my own! Those queens, are you buying that in or do you sow them self, let them grow to a little palm and then plant them like this? Robbin
_Keith 772 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 I guess I should have replied sooner as well. This is one of my favorites threads. Keep it up, even more detail is welcome. Heck throw in a little homelife too. PS - And next time the Cane Toads are in the mood, put the sounds on that other thread.

Alicehunter2000 753 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 Did I miss something............why the Florida sabals? Did you truck them in for a specific job? I agree the price for them is the best deal in landscaping! Unbelievable actually.....if you stop and think about the labor involved in digging and transporting......not to mention the value of the trees themselves. And Dave, they cut them like that because the survivability is increased with less fronds for transpiration. I have also noticed with my own sabals that the smaller the rootball upon transplantation, the quicker the growth of new fronds.
