I am not sure why Ethan thought he needed to help push the trunk in the bucket, I think its a bug part of being 10 and helping the old man :)

jeez back in the day I never thought I'd have 4 kids?!?!?

these were some of the first twists I tried, they got rooty boss  on them like a cape buffalo(someone please buy my farm so I can go on safari!) at the spot where the curve was forced.

When I was a kid, I was playing with a black snake. He struck and bit my ear lobe. It left a little half moon of bloody spots.  Bigger teeth than that puney little lizard. I had my index finger bitten by a much larger snake once, ripped the top of my finger open. I still have the scar to prove it.

When someone gave me a 5 foot diamond back, my Mom put her foot down, and all the reptiles had to go. Probably a good thing, as I'm sure I would have been bitten as rattle snakes are mean and fast. My dad killed the snake, and then we skinned it, and I had the skin for many years.

One of the largest southern diamond back rattlers ever captured was found only about a mile from where we lived in South Georgia. He was over 7 feet long and later appeared on the Marlin Perkins TV show, an animal show of the time. Oh, plam related? Serenoa grew all around and a favorite habitat for rattlers.

Urp!  You ate him??? I hope you saved the skin as they are worth qute a bit of money now. They make beautiful belts, but there is a process to cure the skin.

fried rattle snake is a delicacy here!

you cant fry it fast enough to keep up with my tribe!

i have several skins, usually keep the skin and rattles intact, I shot her in half while quail hunting with a shotgun.

so the skin was not so salvageable!

time your Texas trip right and you can go to Freer Tx, for the rattlesnake round up!!
