For those who were planning on using the Polk Parkway (FL-570 toll road) as part of their travel plans to/from the fall meeting, please consider getting a SunPass if you do not already have one.  There is a project to convert the Polk Parkway to all electronic tolls that is slated to finish in 2024.  The portion of this project that will impact the Lakeland Highlands Rd. interchange, making it all-electronic goes live on 09/23/2022 - roughly 1 full month before our meeting.

The meeting is still on and the itinerary is firm.  For those on the mailing list, look for an email reminder to come out this weekend.  If you've already sent an RSVP, you won't need to again.

Lakeland did take a pretty good dent from Hurricane Ian, particularly in the southeast quadrant.  Each of the featured gardens is getting the necessary TLC.

If anyone can assist CFPACS Members Dave and Geri Prall with their garden in Cape Coral, please do:

We're at the two-week mark at this point.  The itinerary has been modified slightly to work around a scheduling conflict for one of our tour guides.  We basically had to flip Common Ground and Lake Wire and add a bit more time for the Common Ground tour.  We'll still finish at my slice of paradise for the auction and sale.

If you're considering coming but haven't sent an RSVP, send us an email reply, or send me a DM... or just post here so we have a count for parking.

Looking forward to it!

Great day and wonderful seeing everyone!  Hopefully walking up and down all of the hills didn't wear you all out. :)

A few photos of the tour at Hollis Gardens as well as the buffet-style food and auction on the last leg of the tour

For those that didn't get a copy of the City of Lakeland's official palm list for their gardens, here are both pages as images.  Please note some of these may need to be corrected later.  As an example, the Hyphaene in the city gardens appear to be Hyphaene coriacea rather than Hyphaene thebaica to my eye, but I'd be thrilled to be wrong.  If anyone knows Hyphaene really well and I am wrong, please correct my misconception.  In particular, anyone that went to the Lake Hollingsworth shore and saw the Hyphaene near the road and the green Bismarckia nobilis would have a good first-hand account.
